Our Electrical Services
Premier Electrical Renewables started as an electrical contracting business, and we continue to offer a comprehensive range of domestic and commercial electrical services alongside our renewable energy installations. Every job is carried out by qualified, NICEIC-approved electricians with 20+ years of experience.
EICR Testing
From £150Electrical Installation Condition Reports — a thorough inspection and testing of all fixed electrical wiring in your property. Legally required every 5 years for landlords and recommended for homeowners. We identify any defects, potential hazards, or non-compliances and provide a clear, detailed report with recommendations.
Consumer Unit Upgrades
From £450Replacing an outdated fuse box with a modern consumer unit fitted with RCBOs provides superior protection against electrical faults, electric shock, and fire. Essential if your property still has a rewirable fuse board, or if you are adding new circuits for solar panels, EV chargers, or battery systems.
Full & Partial Rewires
From £2,500If your property's wiring is over 30 years old, degraded, or failing EICR testing, a rewire may be necessary. We carry out full and partial rewires with minimal disruption, replacing old cables, upgrading earthing, and fitting a new consumer unit. All rewires come with full electrical certification.
Additional Sockets & Lighting
From £120Need more sockets in the home office? Want to upgrade to LED downlights in the kitchen? We install additional sockets, switches, and lighting circuits throughout your property. All work is tested, certified, and compliant with BS 7671 wiring regulations.
Security & Outdoor Lighting
From £180Deter intruders and illuminate your property with professionally installed security lighting. We fit PIR-activated floodlights, dusk-to-dawn sensors, garden lighting, and pathway lights. All outdoor installations use IP-rated fittings suitable for the UK climate.
Emergency Electrical Work
Same dayElectrical emergencies do not always happen during office hours. If you experience a power failure, burning smell, sparking, or tripped circuits that will not reset, contact us and we will arrange an urgent callout to diagnose and resolve the issue safely.
NICEIC Approved Contractor
Regularly inspected by independent NICEIC assessors to the highest industry standards.
NICEIC is the UK's leading voluntary regulatory body for the electrical contracting industry. As an NICEIC Approved Contractor, our work is regularly assessed by independent inspectors to ensure it meets the highest standards of safety and quality. This accreditation means:
- All our electrical work is carried out to BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) standards
- Our installations are regularly inspected and tested by independent NICEIC assessors
- We can self-certify electrical work under Part P of the Building Regulations, saving you time and cost
- You are protected by NICEIC's Platinum Promise — a guarantee that any work deemed non-compliant will be investigated and resolved
- Our electricians hold current qualifications and undertake regular CPD training to stay current with regulation changes
What Happens During an EICR?
An Electrical Installation Condition Report is a comprehensive assessment of all fixed electrical wiring in your property. It is not just a visual check — we physically test every circuit to verify safety. Here is what the process involves:
- 1Visual inspection of all consumer units, distribution boards, and accessories
- 2Testing of all circuits including ring finals, radials, and lighting
- 3Earth fault loop impedance and prospective fault current testing
- 4RCD and RCBO trip time verification
- 5Polarity checks on all outlets and accessories
- 6Detailed written report classifying any observations as C1 (Danger), C2 (Potentially Dangerous), or C3 (Improvement Recommended)
- 7Building control notification included where required
Most domestic EICRs take 2–4 hours depending on property size. We do not need to isolate the whole property during testing — only individual circuits are turned off briefly.
When to Upgrade Your Consumer Unit
Consumer unit upgrades are one of our most common jobs — and one of the most important for electrical safety. You should consider upgrading if any of the following apply:
Old rewireable fuse board
Rewireable fuses offer no RCD protection and present a fire and shock hazard. Modern metal consumer units are mandatory under current regulations.
Adding solar panels or EV charger
Solar and EV circuits require dedicated RCBO protection. If your existing board has no capacity, an upgrade is needed before any renewable energy installation.
Failing EICR inspection
A C2 observation on your EICR typically requires a consumer unit upgrade within 28 days for a rental property to be legally re-lettable.
Extending or renovating
Extensions, loft conversions, and kitchen refits frequently require additional circuits. A larger consumer unit accommodates these without compromise.

We serve both domestic and commercial clients across Yorkshire. Whether you are a homeowner needing a consumer unit upgrade, a landlord requiring EICR certification for your rental portfolio, or a business needing commercial electrical work, our team has the qualifications and experience to deliver.

Information for Landlords
Landlords in England face specific legal obligations around electrical safety. We manage EICR programmes for single properties and entire portfolios — contact us to discuss bulk pricing and priority scheduling.
- Landlords are legally required to obtain an EICR every 5 years (or at change of tenancy) under the Electrical Safety Standards in the Private Rented Sector (England) Regulations 2020
- A copy of the valid EICR must be given to existing tenants within 28 days and to new tenants before they move in
- Any C1 or C2 observations must be remedied within 28 days; failure to comply can result in fines of up to £30,000 per breach
- Premier Electrical Renewables manages portfolio EICR programmes for landlords across Yorkshire — contact us for bulk pricing
- We can carry out remedial works on the same day as the EICR where possible, minimising void periods
Renewable Energy Electrical Work
Our electrical expertise is the foundation of our renewable energy installation services. Many solar, battery, and EV charger installations require electrical upgrades — consumer unit replacements, earthing improvements, or additional circuit installation. Because we handle all electrical work in-house, there is no need to coordinate multiple contractors. Explore our solar panel, battery storage, and EV charger installation services.

Frequently Asked Questions
An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) is a formal inspection of the fixed electrical wiring in a property. It identifies any deficiencies, damage, or conditions that could give rise to danger. Landlords are legally required to have an EICR carried out every 5 years. We are NICEIC approved to carry out EICRs.
Yes. Premier Electrical Renewables started as an electrical contracting business, and we still offer full domestic electrical services including EICR testing, consumer unit upgrades, additional sockets and lighting, rewiring, security lighting, and emergency electrical work. We are NICEIC Approved Contractors for all electrical work.
View electrical servicesAn EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) in Yorkshire typically costs between £150 and £300 for a standard domestic property, depending on the size of the property and the number of circuits. Larger properties or those with older wiring may cost more. We provide a fixed price upfront after a brief assessment. Landlords requiring EICR certificates for rental compliance can contact us to discuss multi-property rates.
For owner-occupied homes, an EICR is recommended every 10 years or when you buy a new property. For rental properties, landlords are legally required to have an EICR every 5 years (or at the start of a new tenancy if the last certificate is more than 5 years old). Commercial properties typically require an EICR every 5 years. We carry out EICRs as NICEIC Approved Contractors.
An EICR grades observations as C1 (danger present — requires immediate action), C2 (potentially dangerous — requires urgent action), or C3 (improvement recommended). Common failures include old wiring without proper earthing, broken or missing RCD protection, damaged sockets or switches, overloaded circuits, and non-compliant consumer units. A C1 or C2 observation means the installation fails. We carry out any remedial work required to bring your installation to a satisfactory standard.
